Ourika Valley and village of Setti Fatma Day Trip
Pick up from Dar Zaman
at 10h00 (earlier if you prefer) and drive 40km along the road that
leads into the lush and picturesque Ourika Valley. Along the route you’ll pass
through various Berber villages where you can stop and take a tea and buy local
wares. There are several women’s cooperatives along the way where you can watch
the process for making Argan Oil and make some purchases – bargain hard!
At the end of the valley against the foothills is the Berber
village of Setti Fatma from where you can hike along the river to a succession
of small waterfalls. The walk can take 45 minutes – 3 hours depending on how
adventurous you want to be. If you’re interested in the longer walk, be sure to
take good walking shoes.
You will find a good selection of small local places for
lunch.
The village of Setti Fatma is famous for its pottery and its
minerals. A large Berber souk (country market) is held on Mondays.
